The 10th Pinjarra Festival got off

with a big bang

This year’s Pinjarra Festival was another great success for the town, even though a huge thunderstorm  raged overhead on Saturday. Workmen trying to install the dance floor and sound equipment had to battle  stronge winds and pouring rain. The show  got under way  even after all the drama and although the crowds were down on Saturday due to the wet weather,  Sunday and Monday certainly more than made up for it.

The entertainment was fantastic,  with new performers Trio Allegro who played and sang fiery Spanish, French and Greek music; a Tom Jones tribute by Wayne Stanley who had a powerful voice and a lot of humour, Faery Folk, Chicks With Tricks  who captivated the crowd,  That’s Entertainment; Sinbad’s Daughters (belly dancers) and Eddie Storm who proved a great hit with the audience.

Many of the popular old favourites such as Circle of the Sword, Hey Presto, Greg Hastings Family Man Show, vocalist Christine, Heel and Toe, the Peel Scottish Fiddlers and the ever popular Alegrias Spanish Dancers also kept the crowd entertained.

Some of the new activities this year included the Laser Skirmish,  the Cobb & Co Coach rides, Mandurah Wildlife Rescue with baby kangaroos and Peel Zoo with snakes and ferrets. There were also the regular car clubs and Chamberlain 9G tractor displays, wine tasting, camel and pony rides, the Old Machinery Club, Murray Arts and Crafts, Pinjarra Quilters and the St Joseph’s Fair.

Free shuttle buses were generously provided by the PINJARRA JUNCTION SHOPPING CENTRE,  who transported visitors to different venues around town  including  Old  Blythewood, The Rotary Club of Pinjarra Art Exhibition and Sale, Peel Zoo and the Pinajrra Paceway who hosted the Pinjarra Cup Event.  We thank them for their participation in this year's Festival.

This year saw a large increase of stallholders.  Our thanks go to the Anglican Church for the use of  their  hall and the surrounding grassed area to help meet the need for extra space.

Without the help of  the Pinjarra Visitor Centre staff, volunteers and committee members this event would not be possible and a special thank you goes to all who assisted over the weekend.  All in all, another fabulous Pinjarra Festival.  Definitely an event not to be missed!
