NANGA MUSIC FESTIVAL

"Where music meets nature" 8-10 October, 2010

JUDY SMALL TO HEADLINE LOCAL FESTIVAL

- Earlybird weekend festival tickets just $99 online until 15 August at www.nangamusic.org.au -

The Nanga Music Festival may be small by local festival standards, but that hasn't stopped folk legend Judy Small choosing it as her only port of call in a flying visit to Western Australia this October.

Judy joins ten other independent musical acts on the Nanga Festival line-up, including Victorian funny man and political satirist Bruce Watson, multi-instrumentalist Carl Pannuzzo and Carl's wife, renowned songstress Penny Larkins.

Festival organisers have a policy of having only one concert venue operating at a time. "We find this allows festival-goers to relax and really enjoy the beautiful bush setting," says Festival Director Rob Phillips.

Rob sees Nanga as an opportunity to socialise, relax and spend time with fellow music lovers.

"With a maximum of 300 festival-goers it feels much more like a gathering of music-loving friends than a festival."

Adding to the festival's sense of community is the accommodation, says Rob.

"Weekend ticket holders stay in three large, rustic wooden cabins nestled into unspoilt bush on the banks of the Murray River, 10 minutes' drive from Dwellingup."

As well as a full program of musical performances throughout the weekend, Nanga offers a rare opportunity to get up close and personal with performers at the festival's famously fun-filled Blind Date Concert.

"Anyone who wants to have a go at performing puts their name into a hat and gets drawn as part of an act," says Rob.

"We then put on a Sunday afternoon concert where all the acts perform. It can be very funny, but often it's also often very beautiful. "

Other festival events include a campfire singalong, blackboard concerts and a youth showcase.  Hearty  meals can be pre-booked or festival-goers can choose to use the large, well-equipped kitchens provided in each cabin.

Earlybird tickets cost $99 and are available until 15 August. Full-price weekend festival tickets cost $130.

A three-night accommodation package including all meals costs $155 per adult. Each wooden cabin has a large, well-equipped kitchen for festival goers who choose to self cater.
